Taste Kitchen, Bar, & Lounge Massapequa Park

Edit: We have been to this place a few more times and the food and service have been outstanding. The bottomless mimosas during brunch is a great option and it's nice to be able to switch between sangria, bellini and bloody Mary. Salvador is a great server. Nice, friendly and very helpful whenever we had questions. The reason I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because: My boyfriend and I had a reservation for 4pm last Sunday, got there on time and got seated right away. But afterwards no one came for a while. Then at some point a server came, asking if anyone had taken care of our drinks, which wasn't the case, he was really friendly and took care of our drinks and food orders. Afterwards the rest of the evening went by without a hitch. We ordered the prix fixe. My bf had the clams, chicken picata and some peach dessert. I had the fried calamari, maple Dijon salmon and brownie Sunday. It also came with complementary wine. The food was delicious and the portions were right. There was enough calamari to share. So, aside the little mishap at the beginning we had a wonderful dinner. The ambiance and the decor were nice. Most of the music played were remixes of contemporary songs, it wasn't too loud. We will definitely go back and hope that next time it will go smoothly from beginning to end.

We went to Taste Kitchen & Cocktails on Friday night, 3/9/18 for the first time. We arrived out front on Merrick Road and entered through the front entrance. Since its not the main entrance, there was no hostess when we walked in and it was a little confusing. At first all I noticed was the DJ and the bar and was wondering if we were in the right place but we walked through the bar area and eventually found the hostess stand. We didn't have a reservation but since we went around 9:30pm we were able to be seated right away. Since it was late and we were hungry, we decided to skip appetizers and ordered our meals. Lahna ordered the Taste Sauteed Shrimp and it was absolutely delicious! The shrimp were sauteed perfectly, the quinoa was a pleasant suprise and the lemon sambal white wine sauce was excellent. Lahna loved it and I thought it was great as well. I ordered the braised short beef shortrib entree. As I've said in previous reviews, if I see short ribs on a menu, there's a pretty good chance that's what I'll order. Its one of my favorite dishes and I've eaten it at a lot of restaurants so I know what to compare it to and I have to say, this was probably the best short rib entree that I've had in a long time. I'm still dreaming about the short rib entree special from Villa D'Acqua in Bellmore I had about a year ago, but this came pretty damn close!! My compliments to the chef on both dishes! I would go 5 stars but the service wasn't great. Our waiter was hardly around and the waitress working in the same area must've known he wasn't around so she'd check in on us, but it seemed like she was annoyed that she had to pick up our waiters slack. Add to that the confusion at the front door and this is why I'm going with 4 stars instead of 5. All in all, beautiful new restaurant, great vibe and amazing food!
